| The Southeastern Archaeological Conference was created in 1938 as a means for archaeologists to share information and establish ceramic typologies and chronologies for the Southeast. The organization has over 1,000 members, convenes every November in a different Southeastern city, and publishes a highly respected regional journal. | ||||
| The Society for Historical Archaeology was formed in 1967 and focuses on New World archaeology since the Age of Exploration. The Society meets annually throughout the United States and Canada. | ||||

| C.H. Nash Archaeological Museum at Chucalissa Chucalissa is an Indian village located on the south bluffs of the City of Memphis. Chucalissa, which is Choctaw for "abandoned house", is operated by the Anthropology Department of the University of Memphis. Chucalissa is home to Native American Days, an annual Pow Wow, the Choctaw Heritage Festival hosted by the Ripley American Indian Association, stickball games, and a wonderful museum. | ||||
